About the Author(s)

Picture of Matt, Author of Christians on the ClockI’m Matt – glad you stopped by and I hope to meet you via the comment section. The picture is of my wife and I (she occasionally contributes a nugget of wisdom to the site or keeps me out of trouble) standing on the spot where we got married: The end of the pier in Folly Beach, SC

This blog is focused on the power of Jesus Christ to overcome any addiction, hurt, habit or hang-up. I am a huge advocate and proponent of learning how to do this via the ministry of Celebrate Recovery.

I walk through the steps of the program in cursory fashion but the key is to get personally (i.e. face-to-face) involved with Celebrate Recovery or another solid Christ-centered recovery ministry. Doing it via the website will not and can not take the place of this. I’m serious… I am a complete internet dork and try to do everything on my own. Let me be the voice from your future thanking you for getting into CR and learning how to truly give your life over to the Lord  :)

A little about myself:

I’m a former hard-core boozer and general not-so-nice guy who was finally chased down by Jesus 2004, in Charleston, SC. I was born in 1975 (so I don’t have to update my age) and am just now learning what life is really about – living for the Lord.

Sometimes it’s much easier said than done. Other times it’s much easier done than said. I suppose that it depends on whether I am in obedience to the Lord and am staying connected through fellowship, worship, discipleship, ministry, and evangelism. While it’s true that I am more gifted in some than others, I have faith that the Lord will bring me up in my weaknesses. He’s done me right so far.

My Job

I now work as a Internet Marketing consultant and love new challenges. The Lord can do amazing things. Just a couple years ago I was praying for direction in my career. Since I spent the previous 11 years in bars I wasn’t paying much attention to direction in life. God has tought me an entirely new profession in a scant two years’ time, and the pace keeps picking up – amazing!

My Real Job

I try to keep this blog pretty transparent and hope that it ministers to you. When I first became a Christian, I had a pretty distorted view of other Christians and what my new life was supposed to be like. Hopefully you can shortcut some of the process and steepen the learning curve.

Please share any thoughts you may have within the comment section directly below each post. Even if it has nothing to do with the post, ask anyway. Either I or someone else may be able to help you out.

Have a blessed day! (and I really mean that)

  2. Hey Matt and wife!
Awesome blog site! Love what you are doing here and the focus on our LORD and Savior Jesus Christ. I am co-host for the AMF Radio Show, I am twelve years in recovery from drug and alcohol addiction. I give God all the glory for my new life. The AMF Radio Show is a new Christian outreach ministry we seek to join forces with other believers in spreading the good news of Jesus. One of our main goals is to share with people who may not know the Lord and letting them know that Jesus will break their chains of addiction as he has ours.Feel free to contact us at our new website, amfradioshow.com
We would also be very interested in anyone wanting to share their testimony with our listeners and web visitors. You can listen to other testimonies on our website, we would be interested in sharing web links with you and other addicts in recovery.
    Live in grace,

  3. [...] Youtube has a whole slew of videos where people testify to the power of Jesus Christ in their lives. Building on that “6 degrees” post the other day, now we don’t even have to be a Christian web publishing guru, etablished ministry, or even a web nerd like myself to reach the world with the message of how Christ has saved you. All we have to do is find a friend with a video camera. [...]
