Man was Made to Work
One of the pastors at my church did a sermon recently on the book of Ephesians, covering the roles in marriage that men and women are given. Pretty good sermon if you want to watch it yourself. It was the first time I heard a pastor talk about the true emotional needs of guys, and the role respect plays in our self-image.
One of the verses he also shared about guys was Genesis 2:15, which explains men’s desire to work.
The LORD God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it.
Genesis 2:15
Guys - keep a balance in life and be there to share in all the great moments of life with your family, but don’t let people shame you out of a good work ethic. Conversely, I spent years in a part of the country where many (and I really mean many) people’s dream was to get on disability. I wasn’t a Christian back then and was harshly critical. Sometimes I still am and really need to grasp the concept of grace regarding that.
It’s a tough balance even for myself. I think about growing one of my business ventures and selling it… and then what?
I don’t know about you, but I personally love my work. I don’t really want to “retire.” Now, my job… some days are better than others, but the field I’m in is a thrill a minute. My salary… not that hot, but the Lord is taking good care of us, and that’s all we really need. I guess it’s up to each person to find what they love to do and find what produces fruit, and work with all their heart. I’m still working on the fruit, while others have fruit but don’t really enjoy it. Others have both, while others have neither.
How do you feel about your work situation? Drop a prayer request or praise report about your job in the comments at the far bottom of the page. How do you feel about God’s command for guys in the verrrrry beginning of the Bible?

I left a very good paying job to start a technology company. We focus primarily on condominium and townhome developments but also do some commercial business as well. My inspiration to do this was so that I can create an income that would allow me to move into a more permanent ministry position and possibly in the missions field as well.
My goal is to become a reverse tither in order to support other ministries as well. We have been in business for over 3 years and have been very blessed so far. PRAISE GOD!! My prayer requests is that God would continue to provide the wisdom for making the right decisions and to continue to open the doors of opportunity for us as we move forward. Your prayers are most welcome and appreciated. Thank you & God bless you and your ministry. In faith, George
