Sharing our Faith – a Living Example
I promised we would get into the practicalities of how to share our faith, and what better way to start than to see a living example of people sharing their faith with others.
If you follow the link in this paragraph, you can visit a flickr slideshow put together by our friends Nathan and Amber who are becoming medical missionaries in Costa Rica. I don’t know how many photos are on it, but it’s quite a few and for those of us who have never been to that part of the country, it is quite educational.
Nathan and Amber are setting up a clinic in Orosi, Costa Rica and will also travel outward from there into more rural areas to help the “ticos” (locals) who may not receive as much assistance as those living in the cities. They are also opening the opportunity for others to come down on short-term mission trips. They will even promise to take you surfing – can’t beat that, right?
While this is a pretty “extreme” example of sharing our faith, it is very helpful to other Christians like myself. While these two are excellent small group leaders and very obedient to God’s calling on their lives, they are not superheros. Following God does not require magical powers or a level of faith like the great characters of the Bible. While God may or may not call us to a foreign country, he is calling us in our own country – in our own town – in our own neighborhood, to share the gospel of Jesus Christ.
